The planned #EndBadGovrrnance has experienced a setback on the eve of the protest as coordinators of the protest in the northern part of the federation have pulled out on grounds that the protect would likely be hijacked by hoodlums.
The coordinators, who are in charge of the 19 Northern states said the organisers failed to make enough security arrangement to prevent the protest from being hijacked by hoodlums.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Northern Coordinators, Comrade Abdullahi Daura and Malam Mohammed Musa Biu, the coordinators were sceptical of having a smooth protest in the North.
They were afraid that there’s every possibility that the planned protest would go the way of the last protest in Kano, Kaduna and some other states in the north during which lives and property were lost after hoodlums hijacked the protest.
The statement reads in parts: “We have asked questions and wrote several requesting for security cover at the convergence points in the north where people will join the protest action. But we are yet to get clear answer and measure taken to avoid violence and looting of property .
“Against this background, we are urging all our members all over the nineteen states to obey the directives from the Coordinators and pull out until we get clearance from security agencies.
“Lives and property of innocent citizens matter to us more than anything. thus we back out until further notice.
“We, therefore, warn our members to remain calm and peaceful during the October 1 Independence Day Celebration across the North.”
