Petrol Price Now N739/Litre At MRS, Report Stations Selling Above Rate

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced the commencement of nationwide sales of premium motor spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, at N739 per litre across all filling stations operated by MRS Oil Nigeria Plc.

The refinery said the move marks a major milestone in its drive to deliver affordable petrol and stabilise Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

According to the company, with more than 2,000 MRS stations spread across the country, the new pump price is expected to be implemented uniformly, ensuring consumers nationwide benefit from the reduction.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump,” the refinery said in a statement on Sunday.
“We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“Historically, the festive season has been associated with fuel scarcity and sharp price hikes.

“However, Dangote Refinery has delivered a decisive market intervention—crashing pump prices at a time when Nigerians typically brace for hardship.

“Backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres, this initiative fundamentally alters the supply dynamics during the holiday period.”

The refinery said that by refining petroleum locally at scale, it is cutting Nigeria’s exposure to volatile global markets, conserving foreign exchange (FX), stabilising the naira and strengthening national energy security.

It added that the sustained price cut, combined with steady supply, is already providing relief to households, businesses and transport operators across the country.

However, the organisation warned against attempts by what it described as “unscrupulous” operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction, urging government agencies to act decisively.
“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable,” the statement said.

“We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period.”

The refinery also advised consumers to avoid purchasing petrol at inflated prices, stressing that cheaper, high-quality alternatives are readily available.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at N739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide,” it said.

“Report any MRS station selling above N739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264.

“We also call on other petrol station operators to patronise our products so that the benefits of this price reduction can be passed on to Nigerians across all outlets, ensuring broad-based relief and a more stable downstream market.”

Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady supply, price moderation and energy security, noting that its operations are driven by long-term national interest rather than short-term market pressures.
