President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has increased the number of ambassador-nominees to 65 and forwarded their names to the Senate for confirmation.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, made this known on Thursday at the plenary.
He read the communication from the president to the Senate for the confirmation of the nominees.
The list consists of 34 career ambassadors and high commissioners as well as 31 non-career ambassadors and high commissioners.
It would be recalled that the presidency announced the names of 32 ambassador-nominees.
Some of the nominees in the list are Sen. Ita Enang from Akwa-Ibom, Sen. Folasade Bent (Adamawa) and Segun Ige (Edo)
Meanwhile, three ambassador-nominees, Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa) and Ayodele Oke (Oyo), earlier sent for Senate’s approval had been screened and confirmed.
The names of the new nominees have been forwarded to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs for screening within one week.
