Kebbi Abduction: We Can Identify The Location Of The Girls – Senator Maidoki

Deborah Akinyosoye

The senator representing Kebbi South, Garba Maidoki, says authorities have identified the location of the schoolgirls abducted in the recent attack on Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, and are confident the victims remain within the district.

Maidoki, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, expressed optimism that the girls could be recovered soon.

He said, “We have a fair idea where the girls are, and we are sure they have not moved outside the Kebbi South Senatorial District.”

He added that “There is high hope that the girls will return home in one or two days.”

The attack occurred on Monday when armed men stormed the school, killing the vice principal who attempted to prevent the abduction of about 25 students. The incident has triggered nationwide concern and drawn international attention.

In response, the Federal Government directed security agencies to ensure the swift rescue of the girls.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, acting on President Bola Tinubu’s orders, visited the affected community on Wednesday, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to securing the students’ release.

Shettima, who arrived in Kebbi alongside APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and other officials, described the incident as tragic and vowed that every necessary government resource would be deployed to recover the girls safely.

Global organisations, including UNICEF, have also called for urgent action. The attack has prompted President Tinubu to postpone his scheduled foreign trips to South Africa and Angola.

The Kebbi abduction adds to the persistent pattern of mass kidnappings targeting schools in Nigeria, a crisis that gained global prominence with the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction in Borno State.
