Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stirred excitement among fans on social media after announcing his meeting with French President, Emmanuel Macron
The music icon took to his official X account on Thursday to share photos from the high-profile meeting with the French President.
His caption read, “It was an honour meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”
Although Davido did not disclose specific details of their discussion, the meeting highlights the growing intersection between Nigeria and France’s cultural diplomacy efforts.
Macron has long shown interest in Africa’s creative and entertainment sectors
It was reported in 2018 that Macron made an historic visit to the Afrika Shrine, home of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, describing it as an iconic centre for the propagation of African culture, strength and music.
Furthermore, it was reported that Lagos recently hosted some of Africa’s most promising creative talents last week as the Création Africa Forum celebrated innovation across digital fashion, gaming, animation, and immersive technologies.
An initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, curated by Maison des Mondes Africains, the Création Africa Forum reportedly aims at promoting cross-continental collaboration and investment in digital innovation.
