Despite the just concluded nationwide protests against President Bola Tinubu, members of the Council of State, comprising former Presidents and past Heads of State including former Chief Justices of the Federation, passed a vote of confidence in him.

They made the declaration at first Council of State meeting presided by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa since he became President on May 29, 2023.
However, the Council members condemned in strong terms the recent nationwide protest tagged: #Endbadgovernance.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake while briefing reporters on the outcome of the Council meeting.
Alake said the protest was laced with a sinister motives.
He also alleged that the sponsors of the protest were targeting a change in government judging by the manner it was carried out in some states.
Present physically at meeting are former Presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, while Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar joined virtually.
But former President Olusegun Obasanjo didn’t attend the meeting.
